Relief Worker

In a teamwork environment, the Relief Worker is responsible for supporting various agency programs and services including: Residential Services, Day Treatment Services, Crisis Services, the Crisis Bed, Administration, and 1:1 Contracts. A Relief Worker could be scheduled to work, or called into work on an as-needed basis.  A Relief Worker may work up to eighty (80) hours in a two (2) week period. This is a unionized position. Rate of pay is $20.06 per hour.


  • Child and Youth Care Worker Certificate, Social Services Diploma, Bachelor of Social Work, B.A. or equivalent;
  • Through previous education and / or experience, will have a demonstrated ability to function effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment dealing with various mental health issues;
  • Knowledge and experience in crisis intervention;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as analytical and problem solving skills;
  • A current Police Records Check within six (6) months;
  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR, PMAB and Safe Food Handling;
  • A  valid Driver’s License, able to supply own vehicle and be insurable to drive in Ontario;
  • Meets medical requirements under the Child and Family Services Act, Regulations for Licensing of Residences

Major duties and responsibilities:

  • Must be available for evening/overnight and day shift
  • Must have the ability to work weekdays and weekends, with little notice
  • Must have the ability to interact and engage with children and adolescents in a therapeutic environment
  • Assist with the implementation of ongoing daily therapeutic programming
  • Ensure the keeping of systematic records, including client files, forms, logs and work as part of a team to facilitate on-going case management
  • Adhere to a strict policy of confidentiality
