When families separate or divorce, there are times when visits between parents and children, or the exchange of children between parents must be supervised.
Through SVEN (Supervised Visitation & Exchange Niagara), Pathstone provides a safe, neutral, and comfortable environment for either an exchange of children between parents, or
supervised visits with non-custodial parents to take place.
Please note that a Court Order or signed Voluntary Agreement must be in place to utilize this service, and both parents must contact Pathstone directly to begin the referral process.
When family members are unable to communicate or come in contact with one another, Pathstone provides a neutral, supervised location for children to be transferred from one parent to another.
- Parents do not come in contact with one another when the child is picked up or returned.
- Staff communicate child related information between parents such as medication, health or behavioural concerns.
In a group setting, Pathstone provides a safe, neutral location for non-custodial parents to spend time with their children while custody and visitation issues are being resolved.
- Visits are fully supervised by trained staff/ volunteers to ensure children are safe and everyone is comfortable.
- Staff encourage positive parent / child interaction and will intervene only if required.
THE INTAKE PROCESS
Both parties must contact the Program Manager directly and attend separate intake interviews. A copy of the Order or signed agreement is required prior to intakes being set. Upon completion of the intake interview, a decision will be made about your participation in the program.

Cancellation: If you have to cancel a scheduled visit or exchange, please call the SVEN staff at the phone number provided at your intake. Please do not email as SVEN staff do not have access to the internet at the site.

There is a 2 - 3 hour maximum for supervised visits at the discretion of the SVEN Program Manager. Pathstone has the right to revoke participation by clients who regularly cancel or miss visits.
